Yoga Training Details

Combining modern knowledge and practical application of yoga with its roots in movement, meditation, and philosophy, you can except the following:

  • 200 hours: 170 hours in-person training; 30 hours non-contact hours

  • One weekend immersions: meeting Friday (6-8:30pm), Saturday & Sunday (12-7pm) for 9-months at Cultivate Yoga in Avon

  • Hands on learning, access to knowledgeable doctors, subject matter experts, and monthly guest speakers

  • Two offsite meetings:

    • May 3rd & 4th, Elmira, NY (Paranitya Narasimha Ashram; spiritual home in the heart of the Finger Lakes.) Stay at the ashram, included in this program. Hotel options will also be made available.

    • May 10th, Westlake, OH (Unity Spiritual Center) - outdoor walking meditation event, rain or shine.

  • Cost: $3,000 - books & materials included ($500 deposit to secure your spot)

Learn from Experienced Teachers

Through your 9-month journey, we cover 3 months of physical movement, 3 months of mental models, and 3 months of personal spiritual development. A full holistic approach for modern day householders and professionals. This yoga training meets the elevated standards as required per the Yoga Alliance based on:

  • 1 weekend per month (Fri. 6-8:30pm, Sat. 12-7pm, Sun. 12-7pm) - First day of weekends listed below

    • 9/6/2024, 10/4/2024, 11/1/2024, 12/13/2024, and

    • 1/3/2025, 2/7/2025, 3/7/2025, 4/4/2025, 5/2/2025 (Offsite to Elmira, NY), 5/10/2025 (Cleveland Offsite on Saturday with Sunday Graduation)

  • In-depth study of various yoga styles: Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Jivamukti, Yin, and Iyengar specific to salutations, standing, balance, seated postures, twists, inversions, backbends, and relaxation based postures

  • Develop a stable sādhanā - daily practice inclusive of your rituals/routines to develop, sustain, and nourish your physical and mental well-being

  • Learn how to teach all levels (beginner to intermediate)

  • Learn how to offer hands-on assists with proper intent and safety combined with direct, clear verbal cues, biomechanics for mitigating injury, and more.

  • Learn the limbs and origins of yoga: influencers, history, sacred rituals, terminology, and benefits for our mind, body, and spirit

  • Understand the Subtle Energetic Body: Chakras, Nadis, Vayus, Koshas, Yoga Nidra, and various meditation techniques

  • Introduction to Pranayama: breath work techniques, principles, activation, and nervous system regulation

  • Introduction to Physiology: understanding nervous system regulation, stress responses, hormone balancing, the role vitamins and nutrition plays in our stress management, sleep hygiene, and overall well being and happiness. (Guest Speaker: Gretchen Spetz, Registered Dietitian)

  • Introduction to Applied Anatomy functional movements, biomechanics, controlled articular rotation (CARs), hands-on assisting, bone, body, and organ systems, mitigating injury, and learn adaptability

  • Introduction to Ayurveda (sister science of yoga) on how we fuel our bodies with proper nutrition, energy, social relationships, energetic balancing, and practical hygiene methods for cleansing and detoxification. (Guest Speaker: Shannon Sabol from Grateful Life Health)

  • Introduction to Chanting (māntras and ślokas): understand the guidelines of chanting, learn basic Sanskrit pronunciation, and the impact it has on your brain, memory, emotional body, and how māntras enhance your cognitive functions and concentration skills

  • Introduction to Sacred Texts: such as Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras of Patañjali, Hatha Yoga Pradipika

  • Introduction to Yoga Philosophy, Myths & Mythology: Understanding the links between yoga postures and various energy forces specific to spiritual life lessons and daily self-improvement. (Guest Speaker: Dr. Raj Balkaran from Toronto, Ontario)

  • Optional offsite visit: expand your spiritual journey, hike along the waterfalls of Watkins-Glenn State Park, stay in an ashram (Paranitya Narasimha Ashram Elmira, NY - located in the heart of the Finger Lakes region), chant and meditate with a team of dedicated monks, be formally guided in philosophy discussions by Swami Chidananda

  • Introduction to Iyengar Yoga specific to alignment, props, modifications, and contradictions

  • Introduction to Jivamukti Yoga (Spiritual Warrior Class offered at Cultivate) during our community open practice to learn the Magic 10 sequence, basic chanting, meditation, and āsana sequence

  • Introduction to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga (Half Primary Series):  sequence, posture names and count in Sanskrit, methodology, influencers, therapeutic aspects, and additional materials/references provided (e.g. cheat-sheet and pranayama pocketbook highlighting the 6 traditional techniques).

  • Introduction to Yogic Ethics: build healthy habits and revisit our conditional programming of values “on and off the mat”, with daily self-reflection, behavioral audits, and other unique feedback systems

  • Understand the Business of Yoga: insurance, marketing, diversity, employment considerations, credentials, software apps, etc.
