Got questions about the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training?

Who is this training for?

This program is designed to offer personal development as well as lay the foundation and be equipped with the tools to teach yoga. It is for all those seeking to find the most authentic version of themselves, expand their knowledge of yoga, deepen their practice, communicate and share better. It encourages self-development and supports experiential learning.

I do not want to teach yoga, is this program suitable for me?

Yes, we respect and honor your personal reasons. Self-study and interpersonal development is equally as part of the yoga journey. You will however be required to participate in the teaching portion of the program in order to graduate.

What style(s) of yoga is being taught?

The style of yoga taught is interdisciplinary Hatha blend of Vinyasa, Iyengar, Jivamukti, and Ashtanga Vinyasa. These styles of yoga are rooted in experiential learning, breath-synchronized movement, conscious rest, and approaches the ancient practice as a journey to the self with care and contemplation. We will emphasize the balance of motion and stillness, curiosity and creativity, and lay the foundation to teach Vinyasa, Power, and Gentle Flow, as well as your own unique style of yoga. This includes understanding the postures and elements from Jivamukti and Half Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa, and basic Hatha Yoga (e.g. Iyengar alignment, and Yin). We will have subject matter experts in each style of yoga provide hands-on instructional learning, practice teaching, required reading from specific resources, and our team will offer a student self-study guide. This physical, paper-based study guide is much like a companion guide outlined into core sections (with visuals, diagrams, Sanskrit translated into English, asana, anatomy, chanting, etc.) to allow students to document notes along the way while serving as a main reference point.

Do I need to have an established yoga practice?

There are no prerequisites or requirements to be a part of this training other than a desire to study yoga.

Is this a Yoga Alliance certified school?

Yes. This training is a 200-Hour Yoga Alliance certified program and taught by a Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Upon completion, you will receive a certification and can register with the Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (optional).

How much time is required for homework and outside activities?

Homework is between 2-3 hours each week. In addition, there is daily meditation, practicing of asana, practice teaching, and hands-on assisting.

Will I be tested or evaluated in order to graduate?

Throughout the training, our team is available to answer any questions and provide feedback and suggestions as you progress as a teacher. In addition to several required assignments, volunteer time throughout the course, you must complete your final practice teach to your peers in order to graduate, along with a general multiple choice exam which you can use your notes.

What are the graduation requirements?

Show up on time each day ready to learn. Attend the minimum number of hours required by the Yoga Alliance (200 in person, classroom hours). Complete all required assignments (reading, lectures, practice hours, onsite sessions with subject matter experts). Complete your final practice teaching to your peers. Complete your monthly quizzes, and final exam (yes, you can use your notes!)

Can I teach immediately after this course?

Yes. This 200-hour program is designed to provide you with the credentials intended to be a foundation for teaching. Many will teach right away, others will take more time with the teachings, and some may not teach at all. Whatever your path, you will have the tools and the power to choose.
